    Silver Bay Seafoods (SBS) is currently looking for experienced Bunkhouse Manager to work in one of our Alaska based seafood processing facilities. The Bunkhouse Manager monitors Silver Bay property and premises to ensure security of products and processing materials, and to maintain order at the SBS bunkhouse. The Bunkhouse Manager will play a large role in making everyone’s stay there pleasant and safe. As the bunkhouse manager you will direct the housing for the company, making emphasis on the accommodation of employees and overseeing the housekeeping of living areas. Reports to the office manager and work along with the production manager as well as HR specialist.


    Airfare from Seattle/ Anchorage to the plant is provided as well as your return ticket. Also provided is housing and food while on location. The season typically lasts roughly 3-4 months during the summer.






    1. Bunkhouse Control

    • Enforce the zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy and report offenders to the HR generalist
    • Manage the TV room to ensure that the furniture and TV aren’t getting abused.
    • Make sure the bunkhouse areas stay clean and free of debris (bathrooms, hallways, walls).
    • All around property cleaning (around the plant and housing area).
    • Control of cleaning supplies inventory.
    • Train and supervise housekeepers (coordinate cleaning activities daily)
    • Accountable for the accommodation of employees in the bunkhouse.
    • Inspects physical condition of bunkhouse and equipment.
    • Prepare work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment/property.
    • Create laundry schedule and supervise that it is getting done in a timely fashion.
    • Receiving employees to the plant
    • Working with recruiter to receive up to date crew arrival names and dates
    • Room assignment to be given to employees
    • Room and bedding set up 
    • Develop, control and maintain log of all employee room assignments
    • Pre-season setup of housing areas 
    • After season return of all linens, pillows, bedding, raingear. To be inventoried and cleaned.
    • Weekly room inspections
    • Off site housing cleaning in some occasions.


    2. Glove Room

    • Work gear inventory (boots, raingear, aprons, gloves, sleeves)
    • Overlook the glove room activities (glove laundry, cleaning, raingear handling).
    • General cleanliness of glove room
    • Making sure there is clean gloves and sleeves at every shift change, occasionally at breaks. 
    • When the time comes, you are responsible for the handing out of all work gear at the beginning of the season, with the proper signed forms, and at the end the collection of it.


    3. Other Responsibilities

    • Able to work 12-16-hour days during peak season
    • This a very hands-on job and when necessary you will work along with your employees.
    • In charge of key box (making of the keys, proper storage and management)
    • Picks up/drop off all employees from plant/airport/ferry.
    • Identify housing needs
    • Investigate and respond to employees housing complaints 
    • Make requisition forms for any needed supplies for your area.
    • Other duties assigned by supervisor





    The Bunkhouse Manager will spend most of his/her time working at night, sometimes with little social interaction.

    This position requires an individual that is comfortable working the nightshift.

    Climbing ladders

    Experience as a security guard a plus.
