  • Overview

    The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for communicating to all employees of the facility the standards and policies required by Silver Bay Seafoods and their customers, as well as state and federal regulations. Where the standards and policies are not adequately communicated, product may have quality defects or critical food safety defects.


    You will be required to work at one of our processing facilities in Alaska. Airfare from Seattle or Anchorage to the plant is provided as well as your return ticket. Also provided is housing and food while on location. 


    • Regulatory Affairs: Ensure the facility is in compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as applicable customer and third-party requirements. Coordinate facility audits and host auditors and customers during their visit. 
    • Food Safety: Maintain Food Safety Programs including but not limited to HACCP, SSOP and GMP; ensuring the programs are effective throughout the facility. Where food safety programs are vulnerable, identify the root cause and make changes to prevent recurrence. 
    • Training: Train facility employees on appropriate Food Safety Programs and regulations. Monitor employees and re-train where necessary. Act as the foremost authority on the food safety program within the facility.
    • Management role: Supervise and mentor QA staff to uphold company standards and policies as well as collect and document accurate metrics to ensure standards are met. Where product is not meeting the company standard, identify the root cause and make changes to prevent recurrence. 
    • Laboratory: Where microbiological lab-work is required, manage lab functions and protect the integrity of the lab and results. Communicate results and follow protocol in the event of adverse test results. 


    • At least 3 years of Quality Assurance experience. Seafood processing, preferably with salmon species
    • HACCP certification prior to the season is required
    • Proficiency in record keeping, organization, math skills and communication skills are essential.
    • Proficiency in computer skills 
    • Manage and mentor a QC Staff of 10-12
    • Must be professional at all times and represent Silver Bay Seafoods with the highest standards.

    The QA Manager is expected to uphold a standard set by Silver Bay Seafoods in the value of product produced. The Quality Assurance Manager will have to work long hours during the season. Time management skills are essential in this position; ensuring tasks get done according to deadlines, timelines and requests of management. An ideal candidate will be proficient in multi-tasking and versatility.
