  • Overview

    Silver Bay Seafoods is opening a new state of the art processing facility in False Pass, AK in 2019. Our False Pass location will process salmon as well as white fish and will begin operations during the 2019 salmon season. 

    We are currently looking for an experienced and dynamic Plant Manager that will grow this facility with our year round operation. 

    The Plant Manager provides direction to the plant staff on all short and long-range plans and decisions. The Plant Manager will manage and coordinate the Production, Engineering, Financial, Logistics, HR, Quality and Maintenance activities of the False Pass facility.  The Plant Manager will insure quality, dependability, cost control and responsiveness to the business needs of Silver Bay Seafoods are met.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Participate in setting production and quality standards and takes action to insure standards are met or exceeded.
    • Establish plant priorities and objectives consistent with SBS business needs.
    • Coordinate capital plans to meet plant and corporate needs.
    • Participate in setting facility budgets and manage the facility to insure budget expectations are achieved or exceeded.
    • Manage the facility to assure positive employee relations, and meet all safety and environmental standards.
    • Insure that plant key productivity indicators are measured and the results communicated through the facility and to SBS corporate.
    • Direct the activities of plant staff to ensure that productivity and cost effectiveness objectives/goals are met or exceeded.
    • Responsible for maintaining good relationships with the city government.
    • Develop an organization that will identify and provide training for high potential supervisors.
    • Responsible for ensuring that all applicable safety rules and regulations, including the Safety and Risk Management policies, OSHA and Cal OSHA regulations are adhered to.
    • Responsible for ensuring that all quality, HAACP, GMP, and sanitation regulations and policies are adhered to.
    • Responsible for ensuring that direct reports are provided meaningful opportunities for personnel and professional development and career enhancement.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    BS/BA degree preferred. Management, Engineering or Technical degree preferred along with ten plus years of experience in food manufacturing management in positions of progressive responsibility.

     

     

    Training/Skills:

    Knowledge of good manufacturing practices. establishes and maintains effective and positive relationship with internal and external customers.  Acts with customers in mind, and values the importance of providing high-quality customer service. Read, speak, write and understand English for effective communication. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

     

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
