Silver Bay Seafoods, a well-established Alaska based seafood company has an opening for an experienced Electrician at our new state of the art processing facility in False Pass, AK in 2019. Our False Pass location will process salmon as well as white fish and will begin operations during the 2019 salmon season. Silver Bay Seafoods will provide lodging and meals at no charge as well as round trip transportation to the site. The location is remote and the hours will be long. The incumbent can expect to work 12-16 hours a day and 6-7 days a week while at the facility.
The Electrician is responsible for electrical maintenance of plant power issues, distributions, cords, plugs, motors and compressors. The incumbent performs highly-skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with electrical systems. Electrical work involves technical application of electrical principals to many areas in the facility including heating, refrigeration, motors, fire alarms, electrical panels, electrical control room, and fish processing equipment. The incumbent sets an example for the department staff in work ethic, safety and attitude by working efficiently to maintain a high level of production for the seafood processing facility.
Licensed Electrician preferred but not required.
At least 2 years’ experience and extensive knowledge of electrical systems, safety, national electrical code and lockout/tag out procedures.
The Electrician is able to perform electrical maintenance work including plant power issues, distribution, cords, plugs, motors, compressors, etc. and minor installations including running wires and running conduits.
Employee must be willing to easily adapt to a wide variety of tasks assigned to them. The incumbent must be able to take quick action, exercise independent decision making and resolution of mechanical malfunctions in a rigorous seafood environment. They are willing to follow directions and carry out duties with a sense of urgency and keen attention to detail. They can understand and communicate effectively with engineers, maintenance employees, subcontractors, Head Electricians and interns.

Speaks, reads, writes, and understands English for effective communication. They are proficient at electrical blueprint reading and electrical circuit diagrams. Able to perform intermediate to advanced mathematical functions in the form of measurements, weights, currents and other applicable scenarios.
Employee must be 18 years or older and be authorized to legally work in the United States.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The employee needs the ability to multitask in a high demand environment. Focus and concentration maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment related to seafood processing. The employee needs to regularly demonstrate attention to detail when maintaining all equipment within the facility. In addition, the incumbent must possess a keen sense of the importance of punctuality for a variety of designated tasks by demonstrating a sound work ethic. The employee has an eagerness to learn and the desire to do quality work.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
The Electrician position requires driven machinery certifications such as variations of forklifts, expeditor truck, or flatbed truck which in turn requires a valid driver’s license.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
